Mindset is the lens with which we view the world. If you wear eyeglasses, you know that you can’t see objects very well without them. Your mindset is the glasses you use to view your world. Your physical eyeglasses need to be adjusted periodically in order to allow you to see things more clearly. Your mindset goes through the same needs for change in order to see your world more clearly. Just like you may use your glasses to read more clearly, a positive mindset allows you to see your situations, how you react to those situations, and how to use them to your best advantage. You can use your positive mindset as the lens you use to decide if you want to have a fixed, no change, mindset attitude or a growth, change, mindset attitude.
Attitude and mindset are closely related. A positive attitude leads to a positive mindset which leads to positive behavior. Attitude influences the way you move through life. A positive attitude can allow you to have more success in your personal and professional life. It doesn’t mean you have to like everything or dislike everything. It means you need to look at most things in a positive way. Kinda like saying, “I’m positive I don’t like green beans, but that’s ok because I’m positive I like lots of other vegetables!” Or, “I didn’t feel very positive about today but I’m going to look at my world more positively tomorrow, just like I did yesterday.”
You might want to look at the attitudes you have toward your life. Make a list of the bad attitudes and make a strong effort to look at and change those attitudes. Likewise, explore your positive attitudes and use them as your lens to view your world in the way that allows you to be successful in all areas of your life.
Remember positive attitude leads to positive mindset. And, mindset matters! As John Maxwell says,
Attitudes are nothing more than habits of thought.
Let’s make a habit of seeking to have a positive attitude and mindset.
